DNS Stuart McGough.  Anton Johnson had a tumble in his heat

 

TQ Feature- Shane Turner Memorial:    24 starters.

Lap 1, first yellow out when Lawerence Baker , Shane O’Connor, John Hopewell got caught up, Hopewell barrel rolled 8 times on the infield, lucky he was ok, badly shaken. Restart Williams took the lead from Maskovich and LeCren. , then  Brock got past Hayden,  LeCren  2nd. Yellow out when Jared Taylor got into an awkward angle went into the wall. Restart Maskovich, LeCren Williams, Mark Blakely, Gwilliam, long gap to the rest of the field. Last lap Darren Warren made contact with something. Maskovich held his lead from charging Le Cren.

DNFs,  S O’Connor, Hopewell, Baker, D McGregor 5G, D Warren 99C. J Taylor.

1st Brock Maskovich 2nd Paul LeCren 3rd Hayden Williams.


 

Midget International Test: NZ v USA

Pickens started from pole alongside Davey Ray USA, Brad Kuhn and Alach Grid 4&5. Pickens lead out from Mosen,  KuhnUSA  Coons USA, Insley Alach. That’s how the line up stayed until 2 Laps to go Davey RayUSA pulled out with car trouble. On the restart Pickens lead out Mosen 2nd  Kuhn 3rd  Insley 4 th who came from grid 8.

Point standings NZ 34  USA 21

 

Midget World 30 Lap Derby:   20 starters.       Round 2 World Series

Pickens started from pole alongside Davey Ray USA. Pickens took the lead from Ray, Coons USA, Alach.  Pickens holds his lead, Ray charging close behind. Coons then got past Ray. Pickens now has a huge lead from Coons, then Coons got past Pickens, made for exciting racing. Lap 20 Yellows out when Brad Kuhn spins out, restarts from the back. Coons was disputing position for restart from Pickens, Indian file restart Pickens started in front of Coons with Insley and Alach. Then more drama when Pickens, Ray, Kruseman got tangled up, now out of race. Restart saw Alach new race leader from Darland USA, Insley. Standring. Exciting close dicing between Alach and Darland.  Yellows out Lap 26, Cory Kruseman USA lost muffler. Restart Alach took lead  from Darland. More yellows out when Buckley and Standring collided. Buckley had come from Grid 17 to 5th. Standring restarts from the back. Alach took the lead from restart with 4 laps to go Darland got past Alach and that’s how the race finished.

DNFs, Pickens, Alach, Mosen, Strandring, Buckley, Davey Ray USA, Jerry Coons Jnr, Lance Beale, Cory Kruseman USA.


1st. Dave Darland USA  2nd Shaun Insley   3rd Brad Kuhn USA   4th Michael Kendall.

This makes 3 Derby wins for Darland.

 

 

Sprint Car Feature:  18 Starters Lap 15

Wakeling leads the start, yellow out on  first lap, Eggleton and Browne tumbled. Wakeling got the lead on restart from McDonald and O’Connor. Wakeling developed big lead from McDonald, O’Connor, long gap back to rest of the field. Yellow out Jeremy Halpin and Pickerill collided.  On the restart Wakeling took the lead from charging close behind Jamie McDonald who is showing more aggression recently. Lap14 Raymond Griffin and Nelson Hartley 6P got tangled up.

Race was shortened from 20 to 15 Laps as time was running out.

DNFs. Griffen, Eggleton, Logan USA, Pickerill, Jamie Duff.

    Michael Pickens does it again. He won the Campion of Champions 30 lap race at Parramatta Speedway on Friday Night then was a convincing winner of the 50 lap classic on Saturday night taking the lead 15 laps into the race from starting grid 18 and from there on it was all over Rover.
