Pickens wins at Parramatta Friday Night1/5/2010

New Zealand Speedcar Champion Michael Pickens who started from grid 5, has claimed an exciting Champion of Champions tonight at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway. Second across the line was Mark Brown from grid 2, with Kiwi Shayne Alach third from grid 3.
Pickens made his move past Brown with just four laps remaining after a great battle that also involved Kiwi Brad Mosen who started off pole and finished 4th.
The 30 lap feature race was stopped early after Ant Brien rode out a terrifying series of barrel rolls on turn three. He was unhurt in the accident but the same cannot be said for the car. The crew need to burn the midnight oil to get the car ready for tomorrow night’s 50 Lap classic.
Australian champion Nathan Smee was a man on a mission. After starting from position eighteen, he was up as far as sixth place before spinning on turn three. The other big mover in the field was Tim Evans who transferred via the B-Main finishing a creditable eighth.
The top 10 looked like this:
1. Michael Pickens (NZ)
2. Mark Brown (AU)
3. Shayne Alach (NZ)
4. Brad Mosen (NZ)
5. Darren Jenkins (AU)
6. Shaun Insley (NZ)
7. Brendan Palmer (AU)
8. Tim Evans (AU)
9. Jimi Quin (NZ)
10. Troy Jordan (AU)

50 Lap feature race tonight (Saturday) at Parramatta (Anzac Challenge Series)
